Argentina,
Estancia Tecka
March 16-23, 2024 &
December 7-14, 2024
Comfortably settled on more than 435,000 acres of privately owned ranch, one of the biggest in South America, Estancia Tecka features 45 miles of the Corcovado River flowing over estancia prairie and into Chile, the Rio Tecka spring creek which originates on the estancia and runs for 35 miles before leaving the ranch, plus a number of lakes – home to trophy brown, brook and rainbow trout.
All this water and only 10 guests at each of two ranch home lodges a half hour apart. Headquarters Lodge and Caridad Lodge, dissecting the fisheries into manageable distances. Guests fish the gin-clear Corcovado from drift boats, getting out to wade the many productive runs, riffles, and pools. The Rio Tecka is a walk wade fishery featuring “S” curves and undercut banks with browns and rainbows waiting for the perfectly placed fly to land in front of them.
Guests will experience a variety of fishing and are welcome to return to favorite spots throughout the week. Floating lines and dry flies are the norm on the stream, and often on the river and lakes, but the prepared angler will have a sink-tip line in his gear bag. Patterns like a parachute Adams, BWOs, elk hair caddis, small pheasant tail nymphs, and larger foam flies are the normal arsenal. It's not technical, but that's not to say the fish are always easy. It's fun, challenging and rewarding.
Visiting Tecka is like walking back in time. The slower pace is a nice change for guests as they enjoy the ranch life around them. Fishing days are long, lunches are leisurely, and of course the Malbec is superb. The lodges are of a style and architecture not seen today and are immaculately maintained and cared for by owners Adela & Federico Ochoa and the staff.
Our group will fly into Buenos Aires, overnight, and continue to Esquel the following day where we'll be met by the lodge staff and transferred to the lodge, a 2-hour drive.
Whether you visit in the spring or the fall, you'll find Estancia Tecka, with all of it's old world charm, a fascinating destination with an impressive amount of private fishing, beautiful mountain scenery , and a superb staff who will have you feeling at home in no time.
Non-fishing guests will enjoy horseback riding, ranch tours, kayaking, bird watching and hiking.
We hope you'll consider joining us at Estancia Tecka, a Patagonia jewel for sure. Our 2024 December itinerary is not available yet. Please review the 2023 itinerary and contact us for further details.
