January found me in Northern Argentina hosting two groups of friends at Pira Lodge in the Iberia Marsh fly fishing for Golden Dorado . I have to admit I have become fascinated with these fish. They are beautiful, fight and jump like crazy and never give up . They engulf a surface mouse, tear your streamers apart and honestly in the course of landing them break a rod or two. The marsh itself is absolutely amazing teaming with bird and wildlife. The very first day of fishing our group boated a hundred and eleven fish. Honestly this is a must do destination. Put this on your bucket list for sure.
Along with Pira I had a chance to visit with a small group of friends at another marsh in late January. The Ysoro Marsh is located near the mid section of the Parana River well known world wide for its Dorado fishing. We fished out of JETU’U LODGE conveniently located at the waters edge and run by SET Fly Fishing. Like Pira, I immediately fell in love with the fishing in again a magnificent setting. Great guides, food and hard fighting dorado.
I already have reserved two weeks at Pira and another week at JET’U for next January. Both lodges are small and can only accommodate small groups and I already have a commitment from some of this years guest to go back with me. But if your interested, please call Hank Ingram my trip coordinator at Frontiers. 1 800 245 1950 to hold a spot. This is the perfect place to get out of winter and fish in shorts and sandals and not gloves and a down jacket. I hope you’ll consider it- I promise you won’t regret it.
Right now, I’m in Argentina again- this time in Patagonia first to San Huberto and the lovely Rio Malleo then on to the Limay looking for a big migratory brown and finally back to Tecka one of the best kept secrets in Patagonia. By now you probably realize I love Argentina.
As always thanks for stopping by
BARRY
