Caddis, Caddis, Caddis
We are neck-deep in caddis this week, and I'm sure a lot of eastern streams are the same.
We still have cold nights (frost warnings the last two nights here), but the dry fly fishing broke open today, yes, just today. All week long we've been catching fish on the tungsten caddis emergers with the indicator fly from last week's blog, waiting for a rising fish, and finally our guide, Tom Harris, said the caddis were hatching and fish were rising to them. His client caught 11 fish this afternoon on a poly fluff caddis adults. Hallelujah!
It's the time of year for our polyfluff caddis patterns, so if you plan to get out in the next week or two make sure you have some in your box. Grannom caddis (apple green body) are what we're seeing the most of right now, but there are some tan bodied caddis mixed in with them. We're watching for March Browns, too – should be here any day.
Guiding Report
Fishing has been good for the hardy souls who put on long johns and warm coats to fish as there have been mighty few warm afternoons so far. Our water is in beautiful shape and our anglers are catching nice fish on nymphs, emergers, and streamers. But now that will change too with dry fly fishing finally here.

That's all for this week. We sure hope you're getting out to enjoy the spring fishing. It doesn't last long. Have a great week and thanks for following along.
