Its been a busy winter of travel starting with two fabulous weeks at Pira Lodge in Northern Argentina . In my opinion, Argentina offers some of the best Golden Dorado fishing in the world. Pira lived up to its reputation with an incredible number of fish landed. Following Pira I took a small group of friends to Jetu'u lodge not far from the Ibera Marsh and Pira. Again it was Golden Dorado and like Pira I just couldn’t get enough. This was a new destination for me and at the end of our stay I immediately rebooked a week. If you have never fished for Golden Dorado you definitely need to put it on your bucket list. I will be back at Pira and Jetu'u in January 2026. The first week at Pira is full but there may be a room left on the second week. Jetu'u is almost full with I think one double room left. Call Hank at Frontiers- 1 800 245 1950.
March found me back in Argentina starting with the lodge at San Huberto. This was my 28th year there fishing the lovely Rio Malleo. Next was the Rio Limay, looking for big migratory browns. Anglers Art Rorex, Steve Binnick and Jack Innocenzi were not disappointed. Jack landed a monster brown that is a fish of a lifetime.
Finally, I ended my stay with a week at Tecka Lodge. I can never find the right words to properly share my feelings with the fishing, guides, staff and most of all the owners- this place is amazing, need I say more. I will repeating the same March program in 2026. Check out our dates -I would love to have you join me for one of my Argentina departures. It's my favorite place to go during the long winter.
All of my departures are with Frontiers Travel who I have worked with for the last thirty years. They are the best of the best and it was like winning the lottery when Cathy and I signed on to host trips for them. I will forever owe a debt of gratitude to the Fitzgerald family and the entire staff at Frontiers for making my departures the best that they can be. Hank Ingram heads up the South America departures and Hank always has my back. Ben Hoffman is part of our South America team as well and is always ready to help you book one of my departures. You can reach Ben at 1 800 245 1950
Guiding here on Fishing Creek is in full swing. We have had cold temperatures and a lot of wind but there have been a lot of good fish caught. I have included a few images of some of the better fish caught. Today was the first without strong winds and our head guide Jim just texted me that they had a great day and Tom Harris a veteran guide here on Fishing Creek gave a thumbs up with pheasant tails and small caddis. Come visit & fish with us!
